Well, I wanted to make it the last 10 days without having to resort to an iPhone picture, but today's travel schedule was too rough. First flight out, meetings all day (no lunch until 4 pm), and then last flight out. Also, had to miss out on yet another concert I really wanted to go to (Band of Horses and Kings of Leon). At least I was upgraded to first class - a couple free vodka sodas make the bitter taste go down a little easier.

For those of you who haven't read Aldous Huxley's 'Brave New World', 'soma' is defined (by huxley.net) as "The imaginary "ideal pleasure drug" in Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New World (1932). Its chemistry and pharmacology are undefined. As described, the drug resembles a hangoverless tranquilliser or an opiate." It put the characters in the book into a dream like, pleasurable state of calmness and willingness. I would never truly want to be there but...
This is inspired by Brave New World, as well as a stomach condition that I have. I have something called GERD, but just think of it like chronic acid reflux. It gives me a lot of heart burn and nausea and a huge list of allergies, among other things. (I should go vegan; my body is trying to force me to do it!) It's been really slowing my down lately. But, good news, today I start the drugs I need to, hopefully, feel better. If they don't work, I'm going half and half with my parents to cover the much more expensive medications! Hooray!
Once my tummy stops hurting the way it has, life will be so much more blissful... It would be my dream world to be able to feel better. Zantac will become my soma, except not abused in any sense.
Life is already pretty phenomenal though, being full of camping in the backs of vans, the high from a trip to Europe sitting on the horizon, and so on and so on... =)
